A Message From Marji Karlin, President

It is my great honor to be President of the Board of Trustees of Temple Israel of New Rochelle. For more than 100 years, Temple Israel of New Rochelle has been a vibrant part of the community and a hallmark for Reform Judaism. Our rich heritage is rooted in a tradition of Jewish worship and education, community service, and support of our nation and Israel. Today, Temple Israel remains a warm, welcoming community with a mission that embraces inclusiveness in word and deed. With numerous committees that reflect the interests and commitment of our members, there is constant activity for all–from the youngest to the oldest. The energy and spirit of our clergy team is matched by dedicated congregants, who give of themselves for the benefit of others.

When my husband David and I moved to New Rochelle in 1995 we began our search for a spiritual home in which to raise our children, Beth and Rebecca. We were looking for a reform congregation where we would feel welcome, where we could provide our children with a superior Jewish education, and where we would feel supported through our own Jewish journeys. We attended several local synagogues and gravitated toward Temple Israel of New Rochelle. Frankly, I was a little intimidated, having grown up in a very small congregation. My concerns, however, were unfounded. All can find a home in this very special community.

At Temple Israel, we congregate as a family–young and old, men and women, spiritual leaders and congregants–to worship, learn, celebrate and share - together.
