Brotherhood-Brunch AnastosBrotherhood of Temple Israel of New Rochelle, also known as the Men of Reform Judaism (MRJ), is a group of dedicated Temple members, spanning all ages, who volunteer their time and effort on behalf of Temple members and the New Rochelle community. Recently, Brotherhood undertook the partial renovation of the home of a family in need. Our members were passionate about performing this task and plan to continue doing similar mitzvahs in the future. Our committee runs numerous youth-oriented events, including craft day, wacky game day, field day, and the Purim carnival. We join with Sisterhood for “grown-up” activities, recently holding a Battle of ‘Da Hoods’ Cook-off, karaoke night, and a year-end Shabbat dinner and service.

Brotherhood-SammysBrotherhood sponsors either a movie night or dramatic play-reading series each year. The series often include behind-the-scenes stories during a question and answer session with the actors and/or writers. The Brotherhood is proud to demonstrate its culinary skills with bagel breakfasts featuring guest speakers and a latke extravaganza for the Temple’s Chanukah party. Each year, Brotherhood provides a free bus to the Israeli Day parade, sponsors the Israeli Scouts, holds a summer golf outing, and squares off against the Temple youth for a charity softball game. Following the hard work of running the Purim Carnival, the guys enjoy a fun-filled “Men’s Night Out” at Sammy’s Romanian. Our aim is to be open, welcoming and responsive to the Temple children, fellow congregants, and our surrounding communities.
