The Edith H. Handelman Library
The Edith H. Handelman Library of Temple Israel of New Rochelle prides itself on having an outstanding collection of adult and children’s books that are carefully selected to enhance Jewish values. New books arrive weekly to supplement areas of biographies, memoirs, history, holocaust, theology, religion, cookery, the arts, holidays, folktales, Israel, and fiction. Our adult fiction collection focuses on bestsellers, researched and recommended novels, and critically acclaimed literary works of Jewish interest. Our non-fiction acquisitions strive to keep our collection current focusing on modern Jewish life and its principles. We feature many National Jewish Award winners. Families are encouraged to bring their children to select appropriate and fun reading material from toddlers to teens. Weekly reviews for new and timely titles appear in the Temple “Happenings” emails and monthly summaries appear in Temple Topics. I hope you will all take the time to check out our wonderful vibrant collection.
