Honoring ParentsThe membership of Temple Israel is a microcosm of southern Westchester County: dynamic, diverse, multigenerational, and forward thinking. Our members come primarily from lower Westchester and southern Connecticut, including the towns of Eastchester, Greenburgh, Greenwich, Harrison, Hartsdale, Larchmont, Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle, Pelham, Rye, Scarsdale, White Plains, and Yonkers.

The Temple Israel congregation is open and inclusive. We welcome singles and families of many compositions, including interfaith, LGBT, seniors, and people with disabilities. Our hearing impaired members often enjoy sign language interpretation at Friday night services. Our Synagogue is proud to have passed its 100th anniversary, reflecting a heritage that includes a significant number of 2nd and 3rd generation families. Over the past few years, our community has seen an increase in the number of new families joining us, many with children who attend our early childhood program and religious school. Why join Temple Israel? Members participate in prayer, life cycle events (such as weddings, B’nei Mitzvah, funerals, and baby namings), counseling, Jewish education for both adults and children, social action, community outreach, support of Israel, and a variety of social events. We are a caring community that celebrates and mourns together, and provides for each other a rich personal and spiritual life.
