SisterhoodTemple Israel of New Rochelle Sisterhood, part of Women of Reform Judaism, brings together all generations of women within our synagogue to serve our congregation. Our Sisterhood sponsors a variety of social, religious, and community activities throughout the year. Programs serving the community at large include an annual holiday boutique, participation in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, annual turkey drive and toy drive, and material donations to women’s groups in the area. Our own members benefit from small study groups and discussions, book clubs, and women’s health programs. Together with Brotherhood, Sisterhood stages at least one major social event each year, with the sole purpose of bringing people together to have some fun, get to know each other, and feel at home in the Temple. These have included game nights and a very successful annual cook-off.

To serve the congregation as a whole, Sisterhood sponsors a congregational Shabbat dinner twice a year and lends a hand for our new membership barbecue and other activities. Sisterhood supports the Temple youth with subsidies for youth group events, donations to Israeli charities in the names of our B’nei Mitzvah celebrants, Chanukah gifts, and scholarships for our confirmands. Many of Sisterhood’s efforts are geared toward fundraising as a means of contributing to the general well-being of the synagogue.
