For high school students, the Temple Israel Federation of Temple Youth is the most active and self-managed of the three youth programs. A teen board of students from all grades is responsible for organizing and planning events under the guidance of a youth group advisor. Three to five events every month comprise a robust calendar featuring monthly board meetings, sandwich brigades, and periodic overnight events. Many students also choose to participate in the regional Youth Group for Reform Jewish teens, NFTY-NAR, which sponsors three seasonal weekend retreats, week-long events in Manhattan, and the biennial national NFTY Convention. At these events, which host teens from the entire New York area, TIFTY is proud to be the largest group in attendance!
Past schedules have included: freshmen event, High Holiday services, food drive, fall and spring overnights, charity softball game, NFTY retreats, Chanukah and Tu b’Shevat events, Midnight Run, Maccabiah (Olympics), lounge night, chocolate seder, car wash, and elections.
